From our Family home in Milton, Cambridgeshire:

Dear Nigel (& Family): We are so VERY sorry for your loss of Dear Irena – our classmate at St Joseph’s School, Swindon from 1964 to 1969.

We are gratified that we got to meet up with you both at our class reunion (plus spouses) in the summer of 1997. May Irena Rest in Eternal Peace!

You can shed tears that she has gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Saying goodbye to you has been so very hard but you have left a huge legacy of happy memories and that’s what I’ll remember. The fun we had together was indescribable and the laughter was never ending. It’s been such an enormous privilege to have known and loved you and my life is brighter for that. It is a flame that will never be extinguished and I’ll carry you with me forever. Xxx

Since I joined the family you have been nothing but welcoming. You are the matriarch of the Matejko clan – such a beautiful lady and have such a kind and pure soul and there is so much I have learned from you. The way you make everyone feel like they are the most important person in the room , they way your home is so welcoming for anyone lucky enough to spend time there, your words of wisdom to any problem, your positive outlook on life, your love for your family, your cooking tips, your gardening tips, your constant treats for the animals!! and always putting others before you. My life is so much better for knowing you and I loved and still do love you so very much and you will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget you and feel so very lucky to have had you in my life. ❤️X

A big thank you to all of Irena’s family. You gave her a wonderful send off, the service was beautiful and so Irena. As was the wake , full of the joy and laughter that Irena brought to us all over the years.
Thank you also for welcoming us to your home, it was very special to visit Irena during her last few days.
