Richard and I were very close neighbours back in Aberaeron and spent many happy hours playing various sports. He even taught me to play chess and to ride a bike. I recently got in contact with him and he was due to attend a mini get together next month which he was really looking forward to.
When I heard about his early passing I was in shock having talked to him by phone the day before.
To Alison and the Hughes family I am deeply saddened by Richards sudden loss and he will be sadly missed.
R.I.P my friend. Gone but never forgotten.

Dearest Alison, Ieuan, Lowri and Morgan, thank you for all the joy you brought to Richards’s life and for all the care you gave him in his dark times. At least he won’t have to face those times again and he left us on a high showing all his intelligence and humour for a final time. I will miss him so much. Love you for ever my darling brother.

Richard and I worked together at Zurich. He was a lovely man with a mischievious sense of humour. We hadn’t met since I retired some 15 years ago and we had agreed to meet for lunch. It was not to be. Why did we wait so long? I know he will be sorely missed. My condolences to Alison and all the family.

We were all so shocked and saddened to hear of Richard’s passing.

We have such fond memories of him playing tennis at Swindon Tennis Club.

He will be sorely missed by so many people and we offer our sincere condolences to Alison, his children and all of the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

    May he rest in peace.

Richard and I worked in Zürich I.T. Department for years. We work together on the Homeloans project where Richard met the lovely Alison who later became his wife. Over the years, Richard, me and a few other close friends met regularly for a pint and a catch up and to discuss all sorts especially football, rugby, the old Zurich days, etc… I was on holiday when I got the tragic news of Richards passing. Just a few days before, we had been arranging a game of golf when I returned and with his usual, dry, mischievous sense of humour, he was teasing me about the game. I still can’t believe he’s gone. My thoughts are with Alison, Ieuan, Lowri, Morgan and the rest of Richards family who must be devastated. Sending hugs to you all,

Bow Court staff and residents would like to pass on their condolences to Alison and family.
Richard came to our Tuesday group a number of times with either Buster (to play ball in the garden) or Brodie (for walks to Town Gardens.). There was always a sense of excitement when the residents knew he was coming. We asked for memories or thoughts from some of the Tuesday group members which are as follows:
“When Richard came he let me walk the dog on my own and I really loved Brodie. I felt proud because I’d never held the lead for a dog before “
“I remember us all having hot chocolate in the park and Richard let me give Brodie a dog treat.”
“It’s so sad because Richard was so lovely “
    “I’ll miss him coming “
We would like his family to know how valued he was at Bow Court and how much pleasure he gave to all concerned.

To Alison, Ieuan, Lowri ,Morgan, and all the family,
A month later the great shock of Richard’s death remains. What will remain also are the great memories of the joy Richard brought to all who came into contact with him. His friendship and companionship from primary school onwards is one I will treasure forever. My thoughts are very much with you as a family during this difficult time.

Sending all my love to Alison, Ieuan, Lowri and Morgan, whose pain I can only imagine. I have such lovely memories of Uncle Richard – long walks with the dogs, cracking cheeky jokes, and always welcoming us with open arms after a long journey – I’m so sorry I didn’t get the chance to know him better. We’ll miss you dearly, Rich.
