A final goodbye to a wonderful caring person that is also my sister
Growing up together I must admit I didn’t have that sentiment about her as I always found her bossy and extremely annoying although pretty smart,
However, we all did grow up in what was a tiny two-bedroom terrace house in which my father partitioned one bedroom into two and furnished them with a lot of bunk beds
Ie 4 for the girls half of the section and two for the boys so it built up a rivery of boys against girls which was a little unfair as there were 4 girls to 2 boys, I was the third eldest and Pixie was the fourth,
My father died when I was 9 but I remember the love he had for us all I was 9, which meant my siblings before me will not have as many memories of my father, Vivian was the next age down, and Helen my baby sister she was only about 4 when he died.
When he came in from work he would always see how we got on and what mischief we had gotten into as there was always something he had to rule on or smooth over,
He loved the Disney characters and likened them to us, Vivian was named Pixie and I still call her that and I was noddy, those two names stuck to us all our lives,
However I didn’t get to know Pixie well till she met a man called Bob who she fell head over heels with we were all bombarded by how good he was however, to be honest, I never really heard her say anything bad about anyone she was far too good for that,
This is when I started to know my sister as she shared so many things about her family that she was so proud of and showed the same enthusiasm for her grandchildren so well that I felt I was getting to know them as part of my extended family although in practice due to distance we only met on events like weddings where I had the chance to meet this family my sister was so proud of and would constantly share the news with us something I will greatly miss as like my father she has been taken far to early & will miss seeing her grandchildren grow up to which she and we were looking so forward to seeing, so god bless you pixie and my heartfelt sympathies goes out to bob and his children’s and grandkids
